From our earliest days, athletics have played an important role in the overall RC experience. That importance goes well beyond mere wins and losses. Participation in athletics helps to develop the whole person, and promotes any number of virtues; those virtues include dedication, perseverance in the face of adversity, co-operation with one's teammates, and acceptance of any outcome with grace and civility. We encourage all our students to get involved in our program, which operates under the guiding hand of Athletic Director John Ahmuty.
RC is a member in good standing in the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, the Union County Conference, and the New Jersey Catholic Track Conference. While winning isn't everything, it's very nice, and our teams are usually very competitive at both the County and State levels.
And we have an intramural program that offers the benefits of athletic competition to all of our students throughout the year.
Here at Roselle Catholic we consider our athletic program to be more than just an extracurricular activity; it is an extension of the classroom. RC athletics is, in fact, an integral part of our educational program.
We believe that our athletic program offers a teaching environment that is understood to be consistent with the overall educational philosophy of the school.
The RC athletic program provides the student-athlete the opportunity to engage in competitive activities and to come to understand that the word “competitive” is derived from the Latin words meaning “to strive together.” At Roselle Catholic, we strive together as competitors, coaches, parents, and fans for excellence in all of our athletic endeavors.
Through athletics, many students learn discipline, teamwork, time management, and perseverance, and are pushed to reach levels of excellence they may have never before attempted in their pursuit of individual and team goals.
We encourage the entire Roselle Catholic Community to become involved in our athletic program. Whether it is an athlete, team manager, coach, or fan, all participants are expected to uphold and embody the standards of Roselle Catholic.
It is the aim and desire of the Roselle Catholic Athletics Department to develop and maintain the highest standards of courtesy, emotional discipline, good sportsmanship, and the ability to act as good hosts and guests.
We expect that members of the Roselle Catholic Community will embrace and practice these values that, in turn, reflect the highest qualities of the Marist Educational Tradition.
